Dr. Menges received his graduate training at Rutgers University, where he earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2010.  Dr. Menges then pursued additional specialized training through a post-doctoral fellowship at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.  Since that time, he has provided direct patient care to individuals and couples, emphasizing a compassionate, evidence-based approach. 

Dr. Menges is trained in the following evidence-based psychotherapies:

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Behavioral Couple Therapy for Substance Use Disorders (BCT-SUD)

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

As a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Dr. Menges conducts trainings and workshops, as well as supervision and consultation, for other professionals seeking to develop MI skills.

Dr. Menges has authored peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, presented papers to professional organizations, and trained the next generation of mental health clinicians. In a supervisory capacity, he has worked with psychology pre-doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows as well as first-year medical students.

In his personal life, Dr. Menges is a daily meditator and loves almost any outdoor activity, especially mountain biking and backcountry skiing.
