Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based treatment supported by more research data than nearly any other behavioral intervention to date. Countless studies show its benefit across behavioral health and addiction, medicine, dentistry, corrections, children and youth services, and public health.
Helping People Change
Spirit
The heart of MI is connection. MI training provides concrete, applicable strategies for enhancing interpersonal connection, building collaboration, and creating a therapeutic atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.
Technique
Building rapport is just the beginning. MI training develops targeted skills for effectively interacting with ambivalence, eliciting a person’s own reasons for change, and creating a tailored action plan that is unique to each individual.
Post-training Consultation
Research data indicate that consultation post-training dramatically increases MI fidelity. Dr. Menges offers a variety of consultation packages, both with and without the use of coding. With coding, clinicians submit recordings of skill practice which are then rated using a structured instrument. Performance-based feedback that is objective and measurable maximizes skill retention, ultimately improving the care clients receive.
